About This Build

The Monkey Rodi was one of those kits that grabbed me right away just off the design alone. It’s got that rough, oddball look that makes it feel different from the cleaner, more heroic mobile suits, and that’s exactly what made me want to build it. There’s something about the bulky frame, the unique proportions, and that almost animal-like presence it has that gave it a ton of character before I even started working on it. Going into this one, I already knew I didn’t want to leave it looking too clean. The panel lining helped bring out way more detail than you’d expect at first glance, and once the weathering started going on, the whole kit really came to life. That’s when the Monkey Rodi started to feel less like a simple build and more like a machine that had actually been out in the field, taken some hits, and kept moving.
