About This Build
The moment I started watching Gundam Zeta and saw the Rick Dias on screen, I already knew this one was getting built. There’s just something about that design that hits different. It has that perfect retro mobile suit look—big armor, heavy proportions, sharp edges, and that old-school presence that makes it feel powerful without trying too hard. It doesn’t look sleek in the modern sense, and that’s exactly why I love it. The Rick Dias has so much character. For this build, I wanted to keep that classic look intact while giving it just enough extra life to make the details stand out. I went with light weathering instead of overdoing it, because the goal was to make the kit pop, not bury the design. A little bit of edge wear, subtle grime, and some soft buildup in the right spots helped bring out the shapes and panel lines without taking away from that bold red and dark gray color scheme. It gives the Rick Dias a more grounded, battle-worn feel while still looking clean enough to appreciate the design itself. This build was really about showing love to a mobile suit that instantly grabbed me. Sometimes you see a design for the first time and just know it’s special. That was the Rick Dias for me.
“was driven to this build the moment I started Gundam Zeta and saw the Rick Dias for the first time. Its retro, old-school design instantly stood out to me and had so much personality that I knew I had to bring it to life on my shelf.”
